The effectiveness of memo techniques has been confirmed many times in recent years (increasing the ability to memorize information and retrieve information from memory effectively). Why are they effective? Because the brain “loves” interesting things. That is the principle of brain activity. And monotone black text on simple white paper is really attractive?
Learning English effectively with memorization techniques
The three pillars of learning English effectively with memory techniques are: imagination, imagination and positioning. In combination, these three elements will surprise you with your ability to remember and recall memories, beyond what you think you can do.
Associate
When you meet a new vocabulary, what you need to do is associate the word with what you are used to. Say it, but not too easy to do. Of course, with a little practice, you will find it easier and more fun.
Take the word “wife” for example. If you have never learned English, the word does not give you any emotion or familiarity. Most learners will quickly accept that and memorize parrots.
But learning English effectively more when you know to “encode” this vocabulary. You will think of things that are familiar to you. For example, you think of your wife wearing a T-shirt with a big WIFE logo on the back of your shirt. Research confirms that the more interesting you are, the more unique and the weird you will easily remember.
Imagine
We do not think in words, we think in pictures. When you hear the word “cat”, in your mind will show some cat pictures or the words “m, e, o, cat”? Therefore, the “encoding” of your words should be done primarily by creating vivid, clear images exactly as they appear in your mind that you can easily remember for learning English effectively.
These are the rules that make the images we create easy to save:
*Using the senses: The more senses involved, the better. What would you like to imagine? What is the taste? Touching on how? … Always use the senses when you imagine.
*More details: is it old? What color? What’s going on? Add more details.
*Embodiment: The created image evokes an emotion, attaches to an emotion. Do you feel funny? Feeling sad? Feel happy?…
* Add action: the images you create are like a movie clip. Add the light, fire, impact, … you will be very difficult to forget these clips.
* Role in your story: You are always the main character of your brain, things that are attached to you by default will be very important and your mind will remember it. Take on the role.
If you’re not sure if your images are working, ask yourself: are these in the real world? If not – great. Continue. The fact is that the images are weird, the longer they remember and the longer they are.
Locate
Once you have linked and imagined, locate the image somewhere. It must be really familiar and meaningful to you.
Your home, for example, is always an ideal place to start. Imagine your wife is asking for your opinion when you are reading the newspaper on the sofa. Create a lot of associations and pictures, then the short film that your brain can not forget.
