You can not do that directly through learning grammar rules. You should learn the same way children learn the new language: listen and respond. Your job is very light, just listen to the story and answer the questions.
If you have too many questions, you will begin to think. Maybe you will try to translate but you should try to answer immediately and automatically without translating anything. In the stories will repeat the questions in different ways, helping the grammar structures engraved into your brain. You may not realize this, but when you answer all the questions in that story, you are actually learning English grammar automatically.
This type of learning is very useful and practical. You can learn English anytime with any story. Over time, you will use grammar correctly every time you speak. You will use the correct grammar without thinking about any grammar rules.
